Acne Treatment: What Actually Works, and What Wastes Time
Acne is not just a teenage problem, and it is not caused by eating one oily meal. It happens when oil, dead skin and bacteria block the follicle, with hormones driving how much oil the skin makes.
Treatment depends on the grade
Mild acne with blackheads and a few pimples usually responds to topical treatment and a simple routine. Moderate acne with many inflamed pimples often needs oral medicine as well. Severe or nodular acne needs prompt specialist treatment, because this is the type that scars.
What wastes time
Changing creams every two weeks, scrubbing the face, squeezing pimples, and using strong home remedies all make acne worse or leave marks. Steroid creams clear acne briefly and then flare it badly.
What helps alongside treatment
A gentle cleanser twice a day, a non-comedogenic moisturiser, daily sunscreen, and not touching the face. Treatment is continued as maintenance even after the skin clears, because stopping suddenly is the usual reason acne returns.
Scars are easier to prevent than to treat
If acne is leaving pits or dark marks, do not wait it out. Early control is the single best scar prevention there is.
